Activities

Upgrade your holiday with a personally choosen activity we offer you here at the farm and its surroundings!  We have created a list with our most enjoyable undertakings with a maximum drive of 90 minutes. Each of them has been done by us personally, so we can highly recommend them to you and perhaps your family.

Let us kick off with the activities at the Campsite. As we do not only offer housing for our guests, we also offer small and calm activities on our farm. It is very well possible to collect your own fresh eggs in the morning to start a big breakfast or pick your own vegetables to create a nice lunch or dinner. With our thriving chicken farm and vegetable garden we have food enough for everyone. Just let us know how much you take, and we charge a small fee to support our lifestyle. During late summer/autumn we offer great nature walks combined with berry and mushroom picking. The walks are about 3km max, but the baskets will be full by then (in the right season). You can eat them raw or we can make a nice jam, for example, together.

Do you prefer to be more daring during your holiday? Then we say book our SUP tour at the nature reserve Glaskogen. We have two SUPs waiting for you to take a tour. The tour starts at nine in the morning and can take a half day or full day, depending on your motivation. We can arrange a fulfilling lunch or a nice evening bbq. All up to you! This is the best activity we can offer you!

Outside our property there are more beauties to discover. Just 20 minutes away from us, you will find an old war fortress Sjöänds Skans. This has been built in the second world war when the Swedes felt the threating breath of the Germans when the entered Norway. Experience yourself; the old history of this building while you drive through Glaskogen. If you want to know more about this cultural monument, please download our e-book with all our activities! If you take a longer drive, you might even end up at Håverud or the Moose farm in Dals-ed. Different activities, both worth to pay a visit!

Håverud is another historical scenery built by a genius they say. The aquaduct is a brilliant solution to a major logistical problem, many Swedes will say. It entails a canal for boats, a rail for trains and a paved road for cars. Till this day it is still in function. During the high season you can have a nice walk and a proper cup of coffee to enjoy your day.

E-book

We created an advisable e-book to boost your holiday. The e-book entails all our favourite places including helpful insights that you may not easily find only. For example, where to park your car, which days are best to visit or the prices. You can download our e-book freely from our website. The only favour we ask you to complete is to share your email address with us. The address will be used for personal marketing, like a newsletter quarterly or updates about our progress. You are always free to sign out when you have received your e-book. For the moment is our e-book only available in Dutch. If you still have any questions after reading it, please contact us through our contact page. We are happy to help you out.

What to do in the area?

Choose your activity!

Ivan’s Junkyard – car cemetery
Visit Ivan’s Junkyard and be amazed. Amazed by the number of cars, amazed by the size of it and amazed by how nature is taking over. Since 2023 is there a foundation that protects the area carefully as more and more tourists explore this urban car cemetery. Even if you are not a big fan of cars, it is well worth to pay a visit.
Moose farm
See one of the big FIVE of Sweden at the Dals-ed Moose Ranch. Moose live of course in the wild, but it can be very hard to spot them during your holiday. This farm is the by far the best opportunity to see them close and actually feed them.
Moose farm in Dals-ed
Berry picking at Södra Gård to create your own marmalade.
At our farm
At our permaculture farm we thrive to engage guests to come and pick their daily fresh food. We offer an egg hunt, veggie picking and so much more that our land has to offer. There is also the possibility to assist us on projects that we currently build.
Nature reserve Brännan
Enjoy the rocky side of Årjäng municipality by taking a hike at Brännan nature reserve. A reserve with a big heart for nature in a way you might not expect. It is worth to combine this trail with a Swedish fika while enjoying the view.
Sjöänds skans in Glaskogen.
Sjöänds skans
Without expecting any threats, the Germans surprisingly came closer to the Swedish-Norwegian boarder. This action caused a big wake-up call within the Swedish army and many different fortresses were built within a few days. Sjöänds skans is only one of the many and lies at the border of Glaskogen.
MarieBergsSkogen
Visit Mariebergsskogen when you visit Karlstad. It is a great city park at the heart of Karlstad. You can learn more about small livestock and wild birds, enjoy a good restaurant or go out in the small forest to have a BBQ while enjoying the history of the park.
steamboat SS Hamfri
Steamboat tour
Enjoy the peace and calmness of Sweden’s nature while being on a steamboat. Start at the harbour of Holmerudsfors and receive a tour of two hours, provided by local guides. Make your tour even better with a full picknick basket!
Borgåsgubben
Climb up a hill in Årjängs municipality only to discover a panoramic view. See the big lake Västra Silen and perhaps Norway on a clear day.
Glaskogen Nature Reserve
The biggest reason why we moved to Årjäng. A big nature reserve that offers endless hikes, waters and sleeping activities. With more than 29.000 hectares it is the largest nature reserve of Värmland. Only 600 of them are protected areas, other hectares will be used for forestry by private owners.
