At our farm

If you have booked your stay with us at the Old Hunter’s Cabin, we happily invite you to our permaculture activities on the farm. To each guest we offer a great experience of egg hunting now that we have a thriving chicken business. Our chickens are roaming freely outside on our land, but are protected with electric fencing. Years thought us that foxes and hawks are faster than we could have imagined, so now they roam freely but fenced. We make use of a chicken coop during the summer and that is the spot where you can collect your eggs as well.

Eggs, veggies and fruit

If hunting eggs is not an activity for you, we invite you to our vegetable garden and food forest. In our permaculture no-dig garden we grow a big variety of vegetables and fruits for our guests. In our garden you will find zucchini’s, beans, cabbages, salads, edible flowers and so much more. Just take a basket, fill it with what you need and pay directly. Note that this is depending on the season what we have available. If you walk a bit further, you will see our food forest in the making. Here we offer you a great variety in fruits like apples, pears, strawberries, raspberries, sea thorn berries and much more.

Just around the corner at Södra Gård

If you take a hike of 15 minutes towards a lake close to us you have the possibility to spot many, many birds! In April/May you will find cranes for example, but in May/June you will see a couple of red-throated divers just along the shore. As a bird watcher both are a must see. We also have a yearly nest of predator birds. We often see buzzards hovering our farm. They always try to steal our chickens. Or take your fishing gear and start fishing at the lake. You will be trying to catch brasem in this particular lake.

Working at Södra Gård =FREE!

Guests can stay with us for just a holiday or combine their free time with our daily duties and projects in return for great BBQ’s or picknicks. Many hands make lighter work and at our permaculture farm we are always happy to have more hands. It is even possible for you to come as a workaway. We offer you housing while you offer your help every day! This way you will have a holiday in Sweden, will have free time besides your jobs and free housing/food! How great is that! If you would like to know more about this possibility, please contact us directly through the page and have a look at our Youtube channel where you can meet us to see what this job offer entails.
