Härbre Cabin

As a solo traveller you would like to add this Härbre to your holiday! It is a unique, heartwarming stay at a local Swedish farm. The Härbre has travelled from far and seems to have found its forever home here at Södra Ström. The cabin is originated from the 18th century and has been used for storage of oats. In the early days they stored their edible products on the second floor in a way that no mice would eat it. High above the ground they were unable to reach the edible goods that were stored their for a winter. As it does no longer serves as a storage area, details of this history are still visible.

The cabin lies close to the nature reserve Glaskogen, where you can undertake numerous activities. It is the biggest nature reserve of Värmland and can be the perfect place to spot wildlife in the early mornings or late evenings. The foundation Glaskogen, see website, maintains the park and asks visitors to buy an entrance ticket upon their visit. The ticket fee is used to support the maintenance of the park.

Feel the history of the Häbre

The cabin is decorated with vintage and antique materials, like wooden washing bowls. It creates a warm and cozy ambiance, alongside with the electric fire heater, like time stood still. There is a sitting area next to the window where you can spot their farm animals while having breakfast. The Häbre does not have an indoorkitchen, but a cozy outdoor kitchen with an electric stove and running water. There is even an electric grill that can be used. Upstairs you will find two one-persons beds and a sitting area. Note that bedsheets are not included. The holiday house has electricity.

Just 30 meters away from the cabin, you will find a compost toilet and a heated shower 50m away. The cabin is not situated at our farm Södra Gård, but at the Gård called Plan. A direct address will be shared with you on your arrival day.
